Introducing our first Cosplay Feature for 2020, Foxinity!

Foxinity is a Serbian cosplayer living in the UAE since 2013. Her main areas on interest is Art & design as well as Computer science.

From an early age, foxinity loved to dress up in costumes and entertain those around her. As a geeky kid, after moving to the UAE, she attended her first ever convention which was IGN Abu Dhabi in 2015. There she saw cosplayers who inspired her to try this out for herself. It wasn’t until a few months later that she had her first cosplay experience during MEFCC 2016 as Shinya from Seraph of the end.

The following year, at the same event, she decided to cosplay Armin from Attack on Titan for which she had to create her first props from cardboard and water bottles. During this convention, many visitors liked the costume and this inspired her to challenge myself further leading to a budding cosplay journey filled with researching new ways to improve her skills and build more complex costumes.

“In 2018, I attended MEFCC cosplaying Mercy from Overwatch, made from EVA foam with 3D printed props and wings from wood and PVC. This cosplay was featured on one of the advertisements for Gamescon in the same year and I decided to have my first cosplay catwalk as Nova from Starcfraft made fully from EVA foam with LED lights. As I wanted to share my progress and inspire others to cosplay, I opened my own Instagram @foxinity.”

The following year in 2019, Foxinity would go on to win her first cosplay competition as Sylvanas Windrunner, securing first place in game and anime character category made of EVA foam, foam clay, worbla, PVC, chainmail, resin and LED lights.

While choosing the next cosplay to build, foxinity looks for characters from her favorite game, movie or anime. “It has to be someone that I admire for strength, ability, talent or someone that I can easily relate to”. Preferably, the new character should have costume that would challenge her with new technics or materials. The biggest challenge she faces while choosing the cosplay is to find the best material that can be used as most of them I have to be ordered online and this influences the budget.

Weather it is for helpful tips with crafting or any general advice, I know I can always turn to Sumi, who will always be someone I deeply admire and look up to, as well as Vega, or many more amazing friends I got to make in the cosplay community here.
